World Vision Taiwan held the 34th Famine 30 Launch Press Conference today (6/7), inviting the public to rescue children at home and abroad who are in existential crisis in the post-epidemic era through hunger experience, online lectures for frontline rescuers, and participation in the Half Market Creative Charity Bazaar.
Li Shaoling, president of the Taiwan World Vision Association, pointed out that under the impact of the epidemic, climate change, and the interaction of war and conflict, the world is falling into the largest food crisis in modern history, with the hottest extreme weather in eight years, and a new peak in the global displaced populationThese issues are not far away from us, such as climate change, global inflation caused by wars and conflicts, which are deeply affecting everyone's lives, and the life of families at the bottom of Taiwanese society is even harder, thanks to the millions of Taiwanese people in the past 33 years who responded to the 30th Hunger Thirty, not only to rescue hungry children overseas, but also to help Taiwan's families in distress due to emergencies and accidents. The earth has flattened, and crises anywhere will affect us, inviting everyone to share hunger again and take action to save our shared future."
Lin Baihong, the spokesperson of the 34th Thirty Famine Campaign, also appeared to share his field visit to Somaliland, East Africa, which is experiencing three consecutive years of drought at the end of April, directly attacking the situation of children suffering from severe malnutrition due to food shortages, and many families lack drinking water and even eat only one meal a day. Through the service work of the Vision Meeting, we not only support them to tide over the difficulties, but also cope with the challenges of climate change by developing different livelihood capabilities, expanding food sources, and restoring green spaces. I have found that with a little bit of everyone's dedication, they can make a very big and lasting difference in the lives of children from afar, and even accompany them to realize their dreams and empower them to help others."
Lin Maosheng, Vice President of Fubon Financial Holdings, co-organizer of the 34th Famine 30, also shared: "Adhering to the concept of taking from society and using it for society, Fubon Financial Holdings has been cooperating with the Vision Association since 2014, bringing love to Sri Lanka, India, Ukraine and other corners of humanitarian relief needs through the services of the Visionary Society.
